Bong Mom Let’s Baby “Hit That”

Hold it. Hold it. Hold it. Exhale.

Hold it. Hold it. Hold it. Exhale.

No matter what side of the marijuana pipe you’re sitting on, smoker or abstainer, you will likely find studies to affirm or refute the long term effect of continued marijuana usage. One group will tell you that there are no long term effects and the other will cite increased illness and decreased mental capacity. In each group you have those who fall to the mid-line and those who fall  to the extreme. There will also be one bad apple who spoils the argument for everyone.

You’ll all recall the mass media attention the state of Washington received when they passed their personal use marijuana law back in 2012 and the changes our drug system will go through as more states loosen up the reins on the tokers of the world. One Washington woman took what had become legally acceptable and made the news by doing the unthinkable. She made the case for critics everywhere that smoking pot makes you stupid. So stupid, in fact, that Rachelle Braaten, 24, of Centralia, Washington, obviously high, allowed her 22 month old son to “hit that”.

In a cell phone video sent anonymously to police, the 22 month old appears to be taking a hit from a bong while his mother holds it. Though we cannot see the it all on the video, police indicate that there was evidence of the pipe being lit, a group of people who had been smoking, and obviously one party attendee that didn’t think it was very funny at all.

Police quote Braaten as saying, “Well, it was like, you can’t see in the camera, but the person taking it, and then there was like a group of people there. And I guess it was a joke and stupid mistake that wasn’t really funny.” Thanks for clearing that up? Judging by her statement, I can only guess that she was high at the time. Of course everything seems funny when you’re high. That’s how you become a joker, a smoker, and a midnight toker. She didn’t want to hurt no one. Ahem… Braaten claims the boy’s demeanor didn’t change following the bong hit, though one must wonder if he’s just used to the contact high.

Braaten has been arrested and is being charged with manufacture of marijuana as well as delivery of a controlled substance to a minor. The boy’s father, Tyler Lee, 25, also faces charges or manufacture of marijuana and illegal possession of a firearm. The couple’s 22 month old son and another unnamed child have been taken into custody.

  1. I will argue that MJ should be legal. it’s really a miracle drug, if you ask me and our aversion to it is archaic, especially considering our propensity toward alcohol. but, as with any drug, abuse happens, just like pills or alcohol, or whatever.

and I don’t think you’d find many proponents saying that kids should use it! my goodness. their little brains aren’t growing yet. kids don’t get to drink or smoke cigarettes, so kids shouldn’t be smoking the weed. does marijuana make some people stupid? yes. but so does alcohol and it’s the same idiots that get their kids high as who get their dogs drunk. and those people should be shot.

    • It doesn’t bother me when adults choose to partake. Never really has. Kids are off limits. Alcohol is much the same, though I have no problem sharing a glass of wine with my kids over dinner. I wouldn’t give them each a bottle and tell them to live it up. This mother is obviously impaired mentally for a variety of reasons, but I doubt you will find an anti-marijuana person who can find blame in any of the other reasons. In this case, she just makes everyone else look bad.

  2. And the winner for the “Parents of the Year” award goes to…
