Experts. What defines an expert? Degrees… experience? It seems these days there are a lot of experts who don’t know jack shit (should that have been capitalized?) about what they are talking about. Just today, someone posted a video of Martha Stewart bitching about how bloggers are not experts because they are not trained editors at Vogue magazine, and then stated that there are bloggers that are writing recipes that are not tested. I’m sorry, but what do editors of Vogue have to do with recipes? So much for Martha being an expert on anything other than pimping the Martha Stewart Empire.
But as fun as it is to poke fun at Martha, her expertise if you will, does not promote absurd analysis to the masses. The same cannot be said for the experts on Fox News. We’ve already discussed here on Sprocket Ink, the Fox News expert doctor who thinks women should pay more for health insurance because we have more organs than men, although he seemed to forget about a few male organs in his reasoning. Now we have Dr. Keith Ablow stating that President Obama backs food stamps because his grandmother didn’t trust men of color. Oh geez.
Now this is the same Dr. Keith Ablow who stated Joe Biden might be suffering from dementia, alcoholism or both, because he was interrupting his opponent during the 2012 Vice Presidential debate, and he was laughing a little too much. Now granted, Biden can look like a fool, moron… you fill in the blank, but Ablow was offering a medical analysis from watching a TV program. And it’s not the first time he’s done so. On more than one occasion he has diagnosed celebrities with depression, anxiety disorders, substance dependency, all by just watching them on TV.
So now he has decided the President has severe abandonment issues “and he has extended it to this country. So, he comes to the corner office to right wrongs and to offer the mantle of victimization to as many people who will share it with him as possible.” oy. Is anybody buying this pile of crap? Whether or not you agree with the policies of the President, seeing as how he was elected to a second term, it does not seem that he is alone in his views, and I seriously doubt the majority of this country that elected him, all have severe abandonment issues.
A fun fact about Dr. Ablow… he resigned from the American Psychiatric Association in protest over disagreement of various entries in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, which is published by the APA. This means he is no longer burdened by the ethics of the APA, and can pretty much say any wacko thing that comes into his head.
Considering the viewership of Fox News, the rantings of a well educated, but misguided medical expert are the stuff of which dreams are made. Actually to me, they seem more of a nightmare.
