Groupon and Guns.

Groupon groupon-logohas recently pulled/suspended deals related to gun license training classes.   My email gets bombarded with marginally interested deals all the time from them, so I have seen lots of offers from 50-80% off a CHL (concealed handgun license) class all over town.  But to remind you, I live in Texas and there are generally guns everywhere.  No lie, right now in a break room at work, there is a flyer where a guy offering to teach a CHL to us, his co-workers.  I’m sure he’s licensed and all that jazz, but this is how we roll around here.

Right now, Groupon’s official stance is that maybe gun licensing or training courses aren’t a right fit from them because sales haven’t been doing that well.  It’s no wonder corporations are starting to figure out on which side of the gun rights fence they lay.  Not only from the ridiculous amount of shootings but then also crazy shit like what Jessie was walking about. Surely this suspension of services will anger the pro gun people and please the anti gun people who will then buy more yoga classes they swear they are going to take but never do (at least you get to keep the credit).

I understand that you don’t want to be part of the problem by providing licenses to people who might then take that gun and shoot up…well anywhere, but I’m also not sure how many people who have licenses do that sort of thing.  Or at least won’t pay full price for it.

Does it matter that Groupon cares about 50-80%?
