Big news coming out of Japan. Last week, police in Tokyo made a huge bust when they shut down a major prostitution ring known as “Makkusu Bodi” (Which translated to Max Body). The organization catered exclusively to men who are interested in more – shall we say – “well rounded” hookers. By that, I mean the prostitutes are all overweight.
Arrested is the leader of the ring, 41-year-old Keiko Saito, who authorities believed raked in a cool ¥400 million (About US$4 million) in the past three years from her pimp-ly endeavours. The enterprising Ms. Saito, a former prostitute herself, has reportedly admitted to starting up the booming business after she noticed a demand from johns for women who were on the larger side. And so, Makkusu Bodi was born!
Offering her clients “explosive boobs and bums” (Am I the only one who finds this slogan a little unsettling?), Saito is said to have 30 plus-sized prostitutes in her employ – the smallest weighing in at around 176 pounds and her largest employee weighed 330 pounds. Since prostitution (Or, more specifically, providing sexual penetration in exchange for money) is illegal in Japan, establishments like Makkusu Bodi have to be particularly sly. This is why they generally offer their services under the banner of a “deri-heru” (Delivery health) service, where men could request a hooker visit them at their home or hotel room.
Health? I guess I can see that.
Anyway, in some unrelated info, did you know it’s also illegal to be overweight in Japan? It’s true! The law was passed about five years ago. As a result, men whose waistlines cross 33.5 inches and women over 35.4 inches basically end up being harassed tirelessly into weight loss, while their employers can face huge penalties. This could probably explain why overweight prostitutes are in such demand, since the law could make them harder to come by. Of course, there hasn’t been any word on whether or not Saito and her staff will have to answer to these violations as well.
