Profit From Pain in PA

Remember when the justice system put Jerry Sandusky behind jail for what would never be enough time for his crimes?  Since the NCAA got involved, they have ordered Penn State University to pay a never enough fine of $60 million for their lack of action for Sandusky’s crime.  And in some way, it seemed like justice was kinda sorta served.  This money was pegged to go to child abuse prevention grants across the country.

But the governor of Pennsylvania is trying to shut that down.

Apparently its not enough that kids across the country might get some benefit out of this heinous act.  Governor Tom Corbett wants all of the money to be spent into the state of Pennsylvania and is considering suing the NCAA to see that his state gets all of the money, not just the 25% the NCAA has allotted. They feel that it should just be distributed to similiar causes within the state.

So it’s ok to not legally get involved with the allegations and criminal activity while it’s happening, but you want to make a profit from it after the fact Corbett?  I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be something done for the youth of PA besides the incarceration of that awful guy, but to deny the money to stop hundreds of other kids from ending up in similar situations just because they  happen to be from other states?  Ugh.  Just awful.

  1. I have no words. that’s just despicable.

  2. The programs that money is earmarked to support are important to the entire nation worth of children. For the governor to say that 25% of the monies is not more than fair is preposterous.
