Question: What should a politician do for a bump in followers on Twitter?
Answer: Mention Charlie Sheen, of course!
Rep. Jared Polis, a Democrat from Colorado, learned by simply mentioning Adonis DNA-star Charlie Sheen in a tweet that his followers could increase at a much more significant pace.
On March 11th Polis tweeted from his account, @jaredpolis:
“I have 8,188 twitter followers after yrs of tweeting, @charliesheen has 2,588,966 after a week #winning.”
That one tweet doubled his average daily new followers and Polis has maintained that average daily follow increase. At the time of this writing he has 8,418 peeps following his tweets.
Polis does realize he doesn’t have the same level of #TigerBlood as Sheen. He is quoted saying, “It’s only going to take me 684 years to catch up with Charlie Sheen!”
Note to presidential candidate hopefuls: Throw in #TigerBlood and #Winning or Sheen’s newly added #Foxball and #Torpedo into campaign speeches, tweets, and interviews. It is sure to increase your chance of securing your party’s nomination.
Heck, maybe even put the Warlock on the ticket as your running mate! He does have 3,116,849 followers on Twitter (and climbing) after only 24 days on the popular social media site. At the rate of new peeps following Sheen, he will easily surpass President Obama in followers (Obama has 7,143,351) in a few weeks.
