So where do we draw the line between “Love is Blind,” and “Love is… Dumb and Deadly?”
Turning a blind eye when it’s obvious you’re being cheated on is one thing. Refusing medical attention when your girlfriend shoots you in the head is another. What? Yes, an Oklahoma man, after an argument with his girl ended up with him having a bullet in his head, made his way to a neighbor’s house and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Once in the ER, the man refused treatment, told the police he didn’t want to file a report and in fact, wanted to leave. Well, hold on a minute there Sparky.
The police tried to convince the man to relax and let the hospital staff take care of him, but he kept trying to leave… with a bullet in his head. The man was insistent on leaving and Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth stated “He was very belligerent and combative, he didn’t seem to mind he had a gunshot wound to the head.” The operative phrase being “he had a gunshot wound to the head.” Do ya really think he was of sound mind?
After the man tried to escape several times, the police felt they had no choice but to Taser him. Huh? Could the hospital not just put him in restraints? You Taser a man who has just been shot in the head? Is this part of basic police training? The police have also reported that while the girlfriend has been arrested, no charges were filed against the man. Again huh? If I was him, I would be filing charges against the police for among other things, stupidity.
Friends of the couple are at a loss as to how love could go so wrong. Apparently no one is wondering why the police thinking Tasering a man in the Emergency Room with a severe head wound is standard operating procedure. Or a good idea.
