Man, oh man has the video and social media revolution changed the way we do things. We post practically every facet of our lives online. Relationships and breakups are announced via Facebook. News stories are scooped by eyewitnesses via Twitter. And now, people are even quitting their jobs on video, over the inter webs, over and out, out the door.
This week, the very clever Marina Shifrin posted this video on YouTube to let her boss know she was outtie. The 25 year old writer worked for a Taiwanese animation company called Next Media Animation, whose prime objective it seems, was to secure ample page views for its video output.
And she did. Just not for their videos.
Don’tcha just love you some irony served up with a side of badass dance moves to Kanye’s Gone?
She got over 6 million views, a write up in HuffPo, a sweet mention in Gawker and they’re talking about it all over the telly.
And because her boss and former colleagues have an apparent sense of humor as well as comparable dance skills, they posted this response.
Although she claims that her boss was not amused by her video, he seems to have found some redeeming qualities therein, as he references some of her original video in his “We’re hiring” rebuttal.
Way to stick it to the man, Marina! Way to show ‘em up with a viral video too. Mad dance skills, I might add. And now I can’t get Kanye out of my head. You might even entice Sir West to tweet something positive for a change. Smart tactic; she might have quit your job, but prospective employers can rest assured that they’re hiring a woman who knows how to go viral with a spring in her step and a song in her heart.
