Penelope Soto recently learned, the hard way, that “flipping off” a judge may not be the smartest move in the world.
Stupidity is not a crime, but in the case of 18-year-old Penelope Soto, stupidity earned her a thirty-day jail sentence.
Ms. Soto recently appeared before Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat in Miami Florida, to answer drug charges against her. Her flippant attitude didn’t sit well with the judge and, in an obvious effort to make her take the charges more seriously, he doubled her bond from $5,000 to $10,000. Of course, Ms. Soto was unhappy about the decision and, like any rational human being would do, she decided to let the judge know exactly how she felt about his decision… by dropping the f-bomb and flipping him the bird.
It takes a special kind of stupid to think that you can tell a judge to “fuck off” without repercussion.
In the case of Ms. Soto, there were serious repercussions. She was found in contempt of court and sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Her momma must be mighty proud.
Surprisingly enough, Ms. Soto wasn’t the only person whose middle finger got her in trouble this week.
Tatiana Kozlenko, an air hostess for Russia’s Aeroloft airlines, was recently fired when a photo of her “flipping the bird” to a cabin full of passengers went viral.
As an “air hostess”, this may not be the image you want to portray – especially if your boss might see it!
According to reports, Ms. Kozlenko put the photo on Vkontakte, the Russian equivalent of Facebook. Soon, the photo appeared on Twitter, only to be reTweeted by hundreds of users, and finally made its way back to company officials who fired her on the spot.
Ms. Kozlenko continues to maintain her innocence, saying that her finger is not the one featured in the photo and that the photo wasn’t even taken on one of her employer’s planes. She does, however, admit that she tagged herself in the photo, but says that it was all in fun.
Nonetheless, her employers believe that the incident is grounds for termination.
“Posting this photo shows Tatiana’s attitude towards passengers and her duties,” the company said in a statement. “She acknowledged her fault when she spoke to her managers.”
Those Russians don’t mess around.
Regardless of whether the middle finger in the photo belongs to Ms. Kozlenko or some other frustrated air hostess, posting the photo was a clear “fuck you” to the people that she is paid to serve. Like Ms. Soto opening her big mouth, Ms. Kozlenko should have thought twice before clicking the “tag” button.
Look, its human nature to want to stand behind your boss, your customers, your ex-spouse, or that fat sloppy pig who cut you in line at Walmart last week, and flip them the bird. Hell, we’ve all probably done it at some point and we know how good it can feel.
But, do you know what separates us from the stupid ones?
We don’t get caught and we certainly don’t post photos of it on the Internet for the entire world to see.

There’s an update. She got her sentenced reduced by crying to the judge. You were right Andrea, she blamed drugs and alcohol. LOL
