It’s Monday. I hate Monday. I’m sure you do too. So I’m going to soften the blow of this day that indeed blows. A lot.
Prepare to say awwwwwww.
This precious pair, an orphaned wombat named Peggy and an orphaned kangaroo named Anzac, are here to make your day better. Just look at them.
These two share a pouch at Wildlife Kilmore Rescue Centre in Victoria, Australia. They’re living in perfect, blissful harmony.
What’s cuter than a kangaroo baby and a wombat baby hugging? A kangaroo baby and a wombat baby kissing!
Sharing a pouch means that not only do these two share body heat, but they enjoy the soothing sounds of each other’s beating heart. I know, I’m melting too.
Peggy, the wombat, is described by her handlers as boisterous and cheeky. Anzac, the kangaroo, is described as very social. I’m sure they’re both super fun at parties.
As they age, the wombat will max out at around 70 pounds and the kangaroo will likely be breaking at least 100 pounds. That doesn’t mean these two have to stop being buddies, though. They’re both herbivores and Aussies so hopefully their friendship can continue and they can hop/waddle into the sunset together.
Wombat/kangaroo cuteness: 1. Monday suckage: 0. Take that Monday.

This is why I always wanted to be a “journalist.” And by “journalist” I mean person who reports on ridiculous animal-related things.

They need me to cut their fingernails. My superpower is cutting baby fingernails.
