Well, I Guess If The Girl Asked For It…

When I worked for that coffee corporation, I cringed every time a child would order a blended coffee drink. It didn’t matter if the parent was present or not, I did not want to make that highly caffeinated drink for them.

That’s what feeling responsibility as a professional should feel like.

When my kids go with me to that coffee corporation and ask for the blended drink, I grab an apple juice and tell them “Nope.”

That’s what feeling responsibility as a parent should look like.

When a woman doesn’t deny her 11 year old’s request for a tattoo and then puts the tattoo on her daughter herself because oh that’s right, she’s a professional tattoo artist , I believe responsibility has left the building, jumped out of the nearest window and didn’t bother leaving a note.

The 11 year old requested a tat, a small heart near her shoulder, and mom didn’t say no.
Forget that she’s 11. Forget that she’s a minor. Forget that it’s illegal.

The mom has been arrested by not saying no. She claims she didn’t know tattooing a minor is a crime.

Congratulations. By saying “yes” instead of parenting, you win the Super Stupid Mom award. Only those lacking the ability to show responsibility are “winners.”

  1. My middle daughter’s nine. She likes her mom and dad’s sick ink. When’s she’s eighteen, we’ll take her and make sure she’s handled with care.

This was dumb. Although her daughter will be considered a rockstar at her middle school.

    • I thought that too. The girl’s cool factor just jumped a few hundred points.

      Still, that mom wasn’t thinking.

  2. My brooding teen wants ink. He has classmates who already have tattoos. I’ve told him the right of passage is in the waiting until you’re 18, and then being cheered on by your friends. As God intended.

  3. I’m kind of shocked that a professional didn’t know it was illegal at that age. I’m actually OK with teens (who have permission) getting tats. But eleven is still well in the “oh hell no” category for me. And “hell no” seems to vary by state:

  4. I got my first tattoo at 19. that’s how it should be.

forget being a responsible parent, this woman was a professional and should’ve known the law. bad tattoo artist! bad!

  5. I know people regret tattoos they got professionally done at 18 when they just a few years older. Imagine the regret that you could face from something you did at 11. Even worse that your mother did it to you/for you. How crazy!

  6. Hell, I think piercing the ears of children under 18 should be illegal.
